Plymouth shells Memorial, 16-6

April 22, 2014

ELKHART — It was hard to find something not to like in Plymouth’s opening game of the 2014 NLC season. The Pilgrims came out 16-6 winners and banged out 19 hits in the game. They led from first pitch to final pitch.
“Coming after Saturday when we struggled a little bit, didn’t put the ball in play very well, we did hit the ball well,” said Plymouth head coach Ryan Wolfe. “We were going to emphasize that tomorrow in practice, with five games coming up give the arms a little rest and get a lot of swings in, but we did hit the ball well.”

Plymouth holds off Triton, 7-6

April 19, 2014

PLYMOUTH — Nothing has come easy for Plymouth’s Pilgrims so far in the new baseball season, and the outcome Thursday was a 7-6 win over Triton that didn’t come without a price.
First of all a five-run Plymouth lead in the seventh wasn’t safe as the Trojans made a valiant run with two outs in the seventh, plating four runs with three two out hits, the big blow a Gabe McPherson single that plated Landon Kaufman and Jayden Hargrave and put him at second base with the game’s tying run.
