Stemming from the Union North Teacher’s Association contract,

South Bend weather alert system operational after delay

September 25, 2014

MARSHALL COUNTY — On Sept. 18, the South Bend NOAA Weather Radio that broadcasts the signal to NOAA radios across the area went dark when a communications fiber optic cable was cut and six days later problems still persist.

But the loss of signal for six days presents the wider problem of what to do when communications come down, especially when the method used, weather radios, are the primary source for information in an area. This is the second time in September that the NOAA signal has become disconnected.

Area teams get set for Week 6

September 25, 2014

CULVER — John Glenn will get a different look on defense as the team takes on Culver Military Academy on the road this week. But rather than feeling stressed about it, the Falcons are excited.
“We think they’re going to try to throw the ball 25 to 40 times, and we’ve not experienced that yet this year,” said Glenn head coach Dave Sharpe. “We’ve been working like crazy with our defensive secondary and our linebackers with our pass coverages. It’s going to be a fun game.”
