SOUTH BEND — Thomas J. Berndt Jr., 67 years old, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital, South Bend. Thomas was born May 9, 1946 in Hamlet to the late Thomas J. “Hap” and Ruby (Armentrout) Berndt Sr. He formerly lived in Plymouth and Lakeville. On Oct. 11, 1969 in Hamlet, he married Rosemary E. Hicks.
Roger Lee Alvis

ARGOS — Roger Lee Alvis, 89, of Argos died June 15, 2013 at 4:11 p.m. at his residence following an unexpected illness.
He was born March 26, 1924 in Princeton to Gilbert and Caryol (Meeker) Alvis. He has lived in the Argos community since 1961, coming from Indianapolis,.
On Jan. 5, 1961 in Plymouth he married Marie Louise Bernero.
He was a co-owner of White Arts Printing Company where he brokered printing business for his company. He retired in 1994.

WALKERTON — Jessie Schaeffer, 87, died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; her daughter, Kay (Burt) Hall of South Bend; her son, Kurt Schaeffer of Bass Lake; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and her sister, Juanita (Joan) Minear.

PLYMOUTH — W. Lynn Stayton, 72, of Plymouth, died at 11:52 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2013, at Memorial Hospital, in South Bend.Â
He is survived by his daughter, Tena Lade of Plymouth; his sons, Bill Himes and Terry Wallace; his three grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Cooper of Plymouth, Sandy (Donald) York of Plymouth, and Carol (George) Shoemaker of Argos; and his brother, Bill (Ruth) Stayton of Plymouth.
Roland John Antonelli

KENDALLVILLE — Roland “Rolly” John Antonelli, age 70, died Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kan. Mr. Antonelli was born in South Bend on Aug. 31, 1942 to the late Anthony Antonelli and Marjorie Mae (Harden) Antonelli. He married Barbara Ann Wilson on July 1, 1978 in South Bend.
Rolly graduated from Riley High School in South Bend in 1960 and attended Indiana University.
He owned and operated The Print Mint in Plymouth from 1975-2002.
Norris Krathwohl

PLYMOUTH — Norris Allen Krathwohl, 78, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully, at Saint Joseph Hospital, in Mishawaka, on Friday, June 14, 2013.
Norris was born to Homer and Pearl (Abbiehl) Krathwohl in Lakeville, on March 6, 1935. Their family moved to Bremen, where they lived for many years. Norris took Lois Hartung, to be his bride, Jan. 9, 1954. They were married in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren and had 59 years together, as husband and wife.
Josephine P. Bowman

PLYMOUTH — Josephine P. “Jo” Bowman, 83, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Josephine was born to Joseph and Barbara A. (Wolkhatski) Piotrowicz on July 26, 1929 at Fish Lake.
Jo and Delbert “Charlie” Bowman were married Dec. 2, 1950. They lived all their married life in LaPaz. He preceded her in death Oct. 17, 1999.
Jo worked at various jobs for about 30 years, including Allis Chalmers and TV Time Popcorn in Bremen. She retired in 1991.
Maudie Hensley

ARGOS — Maudie Hensley, 97, of Argos died June 15, 2013 at 9:56 a.m. at her residence. She had been in declining health for several months.
She was born June 11, 1916 in Seitz, Ky. to Brice Patrick and Dora (Craft) Patrick. She had lived in Argos since 1963, coming from Jackson, Ky.
On Dec. 25, 1933 in Kentucky she married Willard Hensley; he preceded her Feb. 18, 1985.
She was a housewife/homemaker, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Argos.
Joseph Allen Leland

BATTLE CREEK — Joseph Allen Leland, age 49, of Battle Creek, Mich. died Monday, June 10, 2013, at Bronson Battle Creek. Joseph was born March 23, 1964, in Inwood, the son of Donald and Mary Ellen (Hall) Leland. He had been an area resident for 14 years and was currently employed at Hi-Lex where he has been for 13 years. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, fishing and working outside.

William Frederick Hundt

BREMEN — William Frederick (“Bill”) Hundt, 69, of Bremen, went home to be with The Lord Thursday, June 13, 2013. While descending from a tree after a day of hunting, a branch broke causing him to fall and incur spinal injuries which rendered him a quadriplegic. He fought the good fight through many complications, and by God’s grace he now has peace.
