Be on the lookout for stolen car

MARSHALL COUNTY — Local police are asking the public's help in locating a car stolen yesterday, Oct. 8 from a residence in the 500 - 1,000 blocks of Thorn Road.

According to the police report, sometimes between the hours of 7 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., a vehicle was taken from a residence near the 1,000 block of Thorn Road.

The vehicle is a red 1998 Chevrolet Suburban with Indiana license plate

Rockies dethrone Tigers at Plymouth Sectional

PLYMOUTH — There wasn’t a lot of offense generated in Wednesday’s sectional semifinal between Plymouth and bitter Northern Lakes Conference rival Warsaw. Instead, the outcome came down to who had the better finishing touch.
Fortunately for the Rockies, their forwards were just a little better.
Plymouth held on through the second half to claim a narrow 2-1 victory over the six-time defending champion Tigers at the Plymouth Soccer Sectional in a semifinal with a championship atmosphere Wednesday at Kindt Soccerplex.

Rockies get set for NLC challenge in Goshen

PLYMOUTH — Focus continues to be the word of choice around the locker room as a big win over Concord a week ago only means that this week Goshen stands in the way of an NLC title.
“(Coach) Bob Garrity made a point the other night at practice — he told me that we should probably remind them that the only thing they are guaranteed right now is a 7-3 season,” said Plymouth coach John Barron. “We’ve gotten a lot of kudos this week from a lot of people. We need to control what we can control, is our effort in practice.”

State Motor Vehicles office to begin sending tax refund notices

INDIANAPOLIS – Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) Don Snemis announced Wednesday that the BMV has begun issuing claim forms to Hoosiers who are entitled to Excise Tax refunds dating back to 2004.

The agency anticipates that all claim forms will be mailed within the next 30 days. Current estimates indicate that the BMV will issue about $29 million in excise tax refunds, plus interest.

IN-DOT hiring snow plow drivers

NORTHWEST INDIANA – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is looking to hire seasonal winter program workers across the entire Northwest Indiana District (Lake, Porter, LaPorte, St. Joseph, Newton, Jasper, Starke, Pulaski, Marshall, Fulton, Cass, Carroll and White counties).

Successful hires will work as seasonal INDOT maintenance crew staff, and as plow drivers during snow events this winter.

Applicants Must Have
• Valid CDL
• Ability to pass a drug test successfully

Preferably
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Traffic stop nets four for dealing meth

PLYMOUTH — A traffic stop for an equipment violation resulted in the arrest of four people on meth manufacturing related charges.

According to the press release issued Wednesday by Marshall County police, Jerald A. Standifer,30, of Bremen, Samantha E. Personette, 21, of Argos, Caleb Z. Hollett, 21, Argos, and Ethan S. Hollett, 18, also of Argos, are charged after police allegedly found assiociated with the manufacture of methamphetamine in the stopped vehicle.

Standifer, the driver, was also charged with driving on a suspended license.

Parents asked to sound off about three-hour school delay proposal

PLYMOUTH — A proposal to add a three-hour delay to Plymouth Schools' weather policy is up for parents comments.

At the school board meeting Tuesday, the Plymouth School Board considered another measure that could be used during inclement weather to delay the school start time.

Superintendent Daniel Tyree explained that the call to delay school must be made by 6 a.m. By 8 a.m. a decision must be made and broadcasted to either just delay school or cancel altogether.
