PLYMOUTH — Frank Polletta, 85, of Plymouth, died Wednesday morning in the Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred E. (Laudanskis) Polletta; a daughter, Barbara (Greg) Fox; a daughter-in-law, Barbie Polletta; a sister-in-law, Alice Hite and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.

PLYMOUTH — Gary L. Sickmiller, 61, passed away at 3:02 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 in Plymouth.
Gary L. Sickmiller was born in Plymouth on May 12, 1951 to Lowell A. and Betty J. (Games) Sickmiller. He graduated from John Glenn High School in 1969.
On Feb. 11, 1973 in Plymouth, Gary married the former Kathy Schroll. Together they had three wonderful children, of whom he was very proud.

Downtown Plymouth business closes its doors

PLYMOUTH — This Saturday is the last day of business for Ely Lane, located at 110 W. Garro Street in downtown Plymouth.
Owner Erin Yeager has decided to close her shop, which features her handmade or restored furniture, gifts and accessories. Yeager also provided a space for other local crafters to sell their wares.
“This is so I can be home with my family during the day,” said Yeager, who has two sons ages 7 and 3. “Also I think this will give me more time during the day to go out and find furniture, instead of being stuck in the store all day.”

CULVER — Oregon-Davis’ boys basketball team ran into a buzzsaw called Michigan City Marquette Wednesday.
The Class A No. 8 Blazers hit at a 62-percent clip from the field, landing four players in double figures and distributing 27 assists in an 89-41 win over the Bobcats in Class A Sectional 51 action at Culver Community’s John R. Nelson Gymnasium.
Marquette advances to a Friday semifinal against Westville, a 69-41 winner over South Central in the other first-round contest Wednesday. The host Cavs and No. 10 Triton tip off in the first semifinal Friday at 6:30 p.m.

St. Joe shoots through New Prairie
South Bend St. Joseph shot 50 percent from beyond the arch, and the Indians handed New Prairie a 55-44 defeat at the Class 3A Plymouth Sectional Wednesday.
St. Joe advances to play John Glenn, which drew the bye at the seven-team tournament, in the early semifinal Friday at 6 p.m. Sectional 19 action resumes at The Rock tonight with Culver Military playing defending champion Mishawaka Marian at 6 p.m., followed by a match-up between the host Pilgrims and Jimtown.

PLYMOUTH — Mary Ann Norris, 73, of Plymouth, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, Fla.
Mary Ann was a friend to many, throughout Indiana, having lived in southern Indiana, Mishawaka, Indianapolis/Fishers, then returning to her roots in Marshall County in 2000. Her bright smile, sense of humor, and wit, will be missed by all who knew her.

BOURBON — Robert “Dennis” Rhea, 67, of Bourbon, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Rhea of Bourbon; two daughters, Denise Clark of Nappanee and Catherine Ann (Jason) Rinehart of Eugene, Ore.; a son, Robert Dennis Rhea Jr. of Pittsburg, Kan.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Catherine Rhea of Freeport, Maine; a brother, Rick Rhea of Freeport, Maine; and two sisters, Janine (Hank) Clemmons of Oregon, Wis. and Caroline (Charlie) McLaren of Kelseyville, Calif.

PLYMOUTH — Marshall County Prosecuting Attorney David R. Holmes announced late Tuesday that a Grand Jury empaneled by Judge Robert O. Bowen of Marshall Superior Court 1 issued an indictment against Olan Q. Howard charging Murder and Dealing in a Schedule I Controlled Substance.
It is alleged that Howard killed Stephen O. Vires of Argos, IN, on or about May 19, 2012 while committing or attempting to commit dealing in a scheduled I controlled substance.
It is alleged the controlled substance was heroin and/or morphine.
