BOURBON — Richard DeVon Craig, 68, a resident of Bourbon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at 1:55 a.m. in his home with family by his side.
DeVon was born the son of James Earl Craig and Gertrude Marie Bailey Craig at Plymouth on March 16, 1945. He was a lifelong resident of the Bourbon area and a graduate of Bourbon High School class of 1963. He was retired from R.R. Donnelly and Sons of Warsaw as a Pressman, retiring in 2007 and a member of Bourbon First United Methodist Church.

PLYMOUTH — Bessie M. Holl, 82, a Marshall County resident since 1950, passed away at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
The daughter of Albert W. and Maxine Hankins Pigg, Bessie was born in Terre Haute on March 21, 1931. She graduated from Indiana State High School in 1949.
That following year, Bessie married George R. Holl Sr. in Terre Haute on Jan. 29, 1950. He would precede her in death on Dec. 6, 2007.

MENTONE — Robert C. Smith, 85, of Davie, Fla. and formerly of Mentone, died at 8:36 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at Florida Medical Center of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He was born May 28, 1928 in Kosciusko County to Max M. and Winifred (Tucker) Smith.
On Oct. 21, 1950 in Mentone he married Barbara J. Cooper; she survives.

Future Pilgrims Basketball League schedule changes

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth High School boys basketball program has announced some changes to the November schedule for its third annual Future Pilgrims Boys Basketball League, beginning with this Saturday. Listed below are the dates for the schedule changes with times and locations following.
Saturday 11-2:
1st Grade: 8:15 - 9:45 a.m. (Menominee)
2nd Grade: 8:45 - 10:15 a.m. (Riverside)
3rd Grade: 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. (Riverside)
Saturday 11-9:
1st Grade: 8:15 - 9:45 a.m. (Menominee)
2nd Grade: 8:45 - 10:15 a.m. (Plymouth High School)

Hazardous weather possible

According to the National Weather Service, potentially hazardous weather is expected in the Marshall County area late this afternoon and evening.

The chance of thunderstorms will increase early this evening as a cold front approaches from the west, the alert from the NWS advises. Forecasters say there is a "small possibility" that some of the storms could be considered severe.

Wind gusts will be the main threat under these conditions. Locally heavy rainfall is also a possibility, which could lead to localized flooding.

Plymouth Trick or Treat still on for TODAY; Argos, Bourbon and Culver is tomorrow

Trick or Treat time for the city of Plymouth will be tonight (Thursday) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

According to an alert from the Marshall County Sheriff's office, due to the possibility of severe weather tonight, including high winds, the towns of Bourbon, Culver and Argos have rescheduled their Trick or Treat for Friday.

Plymouth, Bremen and the unincorporated areas of Marshall County will still Trick or Treat as originally scheduled.

Ceremony will honor the late Dr. Bowen

DONALDSON — A tree planting ceremony in memory of the late Governor Dr. Otis R. Bowen scheduled for 3 p.m. today at the Center at Donaldson by Ancilla College has been moved indoors.

The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. in Room 231. The tree will be planted later on a piece of ground between Ancilla College and the Catherine Kasper Home.

Parking lot project begins tomorrow

PLYMOUTH - Several repair and upgrade projects are underway around the city of Plymouth and local officials along with companies working on the repairs are asking for cooperation from local motorists and pedestrians.

Rieth-Riley will be renovating the downtown parking lot at Garro and Water Street - the Bauer Parking Lot - and has asked for and received closure dates for the lot from the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety.

The lot at the northwest corner of Garro & Water will officially be closed at 7 a.m. on Friday Nov. 1 through Nov. 25 for that reconstruction.

Volunteers to stuff stockings for troops

PLYMOUTH - Operation: Quiet Comfort OQC will be filling stockings for soldiers overseas on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. until late afternoon.

Jan Houin Board Member and Shipping Coordinator for OQC and her husband will open their doors to their home, 17671 13th Rd. in Plymouth. The organization will pack 800 Christmas Stockings for troops who will be spending the holidays far from family and friends.

All are welcome to join as there are jobs for all ages and abilities. The building is heated and air-conditioned allowing OQC to pack in rain or shine, hot or cold.
