PLYMOUTH âÂ George E. Hilliard, age 86, of Pretty Lake Trail, Plymouth, passed away at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2010 at Millerâs Merry Manor in Plymouth.
George was born July 14, 1924 in Kalamazoo, Mich. to Dr. George H. and Edna (Marlatt) Hilliard. George received his B.S. from Western Michigan University and earned his M.S. from University of Michigan. George proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Boston and remained active in the Navy Reserves until 1984.

PLYMOUTH âÂ Flora B. Conley, 78, of North Street, Plymouth, passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at 2:05 p.m., at her home.
Flora was born Nov. 22, 1932, in Kewanna, to Joseph and Rosa (Manes) MacLain. She worked at GM Enterprises, a stamping plant, in Plymouth.Â Flora married Austin Conley Nov. 19, 1972, in Argos.Â After their marriage they moved to Plymouth.
Flora loved to make crocheted afghans for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Â She was also the âmasterâ cookie maker, for her family.
GREENTOWN â At 7:55 Thursday morning many Hoosiers â including a few Plymouth residents â felt the earth move.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, an earthquake initially estimated at a magnitude of 4.2 struck north-central Indiana. USGS later revised its estimate to 3.8. The quake struck just before 8 a.m. and was 3 miles deep, according to the USGS.
The epicenter was located about near Greentown, 15 miles east-southeast of Kokomo, 15 miles west-southwest from Marion and 50 miles north of Indianapolis.
PLYMOUTH â A special running of the 8-by-40 model train set housed at the Marshall County Museum Wednesday attracted more than 200 visitors, according to Museum Director Linda Rippy.
Within the first 15 minutes the display was opened, there had already been 50 visitors.
Rippy said the display can only be opened when there are enough volunteers.

PLYMOUTH â June C. Thake, 85, of Eastwood Estateâs Cedar Ct., Plymouth, died peacefully at her home at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010.
Born in Janesville, Wis.,Â July 21, 1925, June was the daughter ofÂ Herbert G. and Clara E. (Edwards) Sarney.
She graduated from Steinmetz High School, Chicago, in 1943.Â June earned her R.N. from Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in 1945.

BREMEN â Hazel Leona (Benninghoff) Staner, 89, S. Whitlock St., Bremen, died at 6:34 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at Community Hospital of Bremen, following a brief illness. She had been in declining health since 2005
She was born July 10, 1921 in Hamlet to George âClemâ and Mary (Allen) Benninghoff and moved to the Argos Community in 1948.
She married Oliver âOllieâ Staner March 31, 1941 and became a homemaker. He preceded her in death Feb. 24, 1992.
